She has a graceful, light willowly sort of build with very little muscle in her arms. A majority of her muscle is in her legs, as she does a lot of running and random leaps-of-faith. She isn't curvy, but rather has a flat chest and a ruler-like body. She does have long legs and a slightly shorter than average torso. Her skin is almost unnaturally pale.

distinguishing features - her eyes
other - she hardly ever uses her glider except for her random leap-of-faiths and does not have a sky-bison. She plans to get one when she's older, as the group of baby sky-bisons that she initially met all hated her. She carries a bow as well, and has her glider strapped to her back while using the bow for a walking stick during travel. When using her glider, the bow in strapped to her back.
HISTORY
Rei Nagato knows her parents (Lau and Aiko Nagato) and three older brothers (Tai, Nato, and Bo) live in the Southern Air Temple, and used to write to them regularly in her youth, but she never actually met her parents or brothers. When she was not even a year old, she was sent off the the Yenyu Temple, also known as the Eastern Air Temple. Her mother wished for Rei to get fine training in the temple where she was taught, so she was somehow able to give up her only daughter to an air temple without a second thought, regret or tear in her eyes. When Rei started her travelling at about age fourteen, she stopped writing to her family.
For fourteen years, Rei was trained in the art of airbending. She was able to pick up most of the agility training and speed training, but when it came to the actual airbending.... well, she could bend... just not well. She has an extreme amount of power for an airbender, she just lacks the control for it (or rather the focus required for control). The monks at the temple attempt to stress this to Rei by making her take more time to mediate than the other students. Obviously this did not work as well as the monks had hoped, but it did increase her ability to focus on certain days. When she was about twelve, she and the other students her age were asked to select a sky-bison to be their companion. However, there were more students than there were bison. Due to the fact that all of the bison tried to bite her hand when she offered them an apple and seemed to glare at her, Rei did not receive a bison that day. She plans on getting one when she's in her twenties.
At age fourteen, she asked the monks for permission to explore the world and try and use other bending tactics in order to better her still uncontrolled airbending. Wanting to get rid of her and save themselves of her increasingly frequent damages to the temple, they sent her off on her way, requiring her to return when she was twenty-one. So with a bow staff, a glider, a flute, and other supplies, Rei left the temple, forgetting to say her good-byes and earning a strong gust of wind to her back when she left the temple from the monks. Since that day, Rei has been able to go through the entire earth kingdom as well as the northern water tribes. She has been able to gain more control over her bending, but her improvement hasn't been the most significant... yet. She's hoping the fire nation will provide her with the tactics she needs for controlling her element. After all, fire is a pretty uncontrollable element... maybe she'll finally be able to control her airbending.
PERSONALITY
Rei is a very flighty person. It is physically impossible for her to sit still for more than five minutes and being in the same place for too long makes Rei anxious. She loves to travel wherever her heart may take her, which makes her a loner. She loves to run with a tornado-like passion, and prefers to run to her set destination rather than use a glider. When she does choose to use her glider, its when she gets bored and decides to jump off a cliff or something. She has two kind of days when it comes to her focus (or lack of it). There are days where her focus doesn't exists and she becomes distracted by simple things like trees and rocks that are not interesting to anyone else but Rei. Then there are the days where she is nothing but focus. On those days nothing can distract her from her task at hand.
Though she may be a distracted loner, when battle calls she is not one to show mercy or go easy on an opponent. She's very quick and uses that to her advantage in battle. She never uses her glider in battle, instead using a long wooden bow. She prefers to manipulate the air around her to block attacks rather than as an offense, though she does make a mean mini-tornado. Her skills are still in development though, so some of her airbending tricks don't turn out like she thinks they will sometimes. However, when she messes up, it's usually pretty powerful and destructive, so if she messes up in battle she basically beat her opponent.
She does not have a strong connection with animals, specifically sky-bison. Most tend to hate her for some bizarre reason. She does, however, have a strong spiritual connection to the wind and music. She's always humming some sort of melody under her breath while traveling around. She carries a small flute in her bag and will sometimes play it in very random places. She acts a little like her small instrument. She sounds soft and sweet, even though the higher notes can be very annoying, and she appears small and delicate, even though if you hit someone in the back of the head with a flute it'll seriously hurt and not damage the flute.
