Nix walked slowly over the ice with her gloves on and her fingertips showing as she moved, her long and wild hair was blowing out behind her and earning her wild and odd looks to match it. She didn't care, she hadn't cared for years. she loved being different and her female waterbending skills did that if you knew her and her bright red hair did that if you had just seen her in passing. Her eyes raked over the snow and ice before her and she signed softly and her eyes went a little weak, she was back to the tribe she had been born in and taken from at such a young age.
She was looked at most oddly by everyone aside a few of the youngest children who looked up at her and pointed to her hair, nix only waved back and smiled at them earning herself some laughs and waves back. She had always had a little thing for kids, they seemed to like her. She heard a noise behind her and she turned to see a shadow coming up behind her and she curled her hands on insitinct before actually turning her body ti see who was behind her.

The bitter wind caused Gan to wake and grab the thick hide that covered his body. He had been to the Northern Water Tribe before and he figured the Southern Tribe would be the same. When he landed here two days ago and saw the nomadic lifestyle he quickly questioned as to if he had arrived at the right spot. At first no one wanted to approach him, his Pirate tattoos made everyone believe he was there to harm them, but he had his crew bring ashore the customary trade goods for living in such harsh conditions. The people didn’t trust him completely but they traded nonetheless. Gan had come because he had received word of a young water bender and her warrior brother that was wishing to travel to other areas in order for both of them to better themselves. However when Gan arrived they had already been picked up by the Northern Water Tribe. He knew how they treated Warriors and female Water Benders.
Gan sat up on the makeshift bed he had. He sighed deeply and saw his own breath. He had half a mind to go Pirate and conveniently kidnap the two kids. He shook his head at this thought for two reasons. One the Fire Nation would be blamed for hiring Pirates to do their dirty work, and two was because they were probably about his age, maybe a year or two younger. He stood up and stretched as much as he could. He was two meters tall, and the tent was maybe two meters at the very top. He kneeled down and put on his belt. He picked up his blade and placed it within the scabbard. He opened the tent flap and walked outside to the freezing weather. The snow quickly piled up on his head and shoulders. He now started to regret not having shirts, at least in the Fire Nation if it began snowing there was a nearby Water Bender he could slap some sense into, here it was as if Mother Nature was giving him karma.
He used his fire bending to create a small ball of flame between his hands that was large enough to give his body some heat. The white flame didn’t do much against the freezing weather, but atleast Gan wasn’t going to die form the cold now. As he felt his body warm up, he spotted a red thing moving in the distance, sparking his interest he followed. He soon realized the red thing was hair and it was attached to a young girl. He had only seen hair like that after he watched one of his students set fire to the hair of their friend as a prank. He gave a loud laugh at the thought, remembering the incident.

Nix narrowed her eyes as she turned and heard a laugh behind her and she looked around before seeing a male with a ball of flame at her chest and she then flinched as she realised the ice below her was pointed now. "cool it nix" she said softly to herself and she released her finger from their fists and then she turned back to what she had come to do and see. She walked to the next tent house and then looked it over, it was clearly where the healer of the village lived and she was the oldest person in the village and hopefully she would remember nix's name and know what had happened to her parents. Nix had never known them, she only knew they had brought her up here until she was 2 and then she was moved to her uncle and aunts home in the northern tribe but she didn't know why. And she really wanted to know why, hence why she was now trying to work out how to enter the tent without seeming rude or forward. She pushed the tent open and stepped in to see a woman who smiled as soon as nix was in there with her, ,"we knew you would be here soon, your aunt told me you'd ran away but that was many years ago. I've been waiting a long time nix" she said in an old and scratchy voice before she turned to the fire at the middle of the tent and picked up a cup of tea that sat there steaming *feel free to gatecrash this *

Gan could see the red-haired woman flinch from his laugh. Did he offend her somehow? He couldn’t think of why, and there was something about the ice around her feet that moved funny. He watched her release her fists and noticed the ice change again below her. She couldn’t be water bender could she? He wasn’t dismissing the observation entirely, but he figured that maybe just the way she moved caused the snow to shift somehow. He continued walking her direction when he noticed her slip off into a side tent. Gan shrugged his shoulders causing his warming flame to go out. He shivered in the cold and quickly created a new one. The bitter wind quickly snuffed the small flame out however. For warmth he entered the next tent he could.
That’s when he smelt the tea that was made. He smiled at its scent, closing his frozen eyes and enjoyed the warmth for a second. When he snapped his eyes back open, he realized he had entered the same tent he saw the red haired girl. He recognized the older woman next to her as the Village Healer, whom he was decent friends with, he bowed his head, covered his hands in a white flame and rubbed his bare arms and chest. Warming them slightly.
“I am truly sorry for interrupting. Its just it so cold and without having a shirt and my fire going out so quickly,” Gan explained. He realized he was making excuses. Then he started to question himself. Why this tent when the next one was another three steps? Had he subconsciously chosen this tent out of his previous curiosity about the red haired girl? Something he had never seen before, let alone within the Water Tribes. "Healer I am Gan Ning. Fire Nation. Master Fire Bender. I do not wish harm upon you."

Nix tried not to seem shocked when the healer knew her name and she said nothing as she was handed a cup of tea, the healer waved her hand over a mat on the floor and nix nodded stiffly before sitting down and drinking from her cup. The male she had seen walked in to the tent just as she took a sip and and frowned over at him, was he following her?
He spoke about his chills and how his ability didn't work here and she tried not to smile, she didn't have a thing against fire benders but all those she had met had been proud and stuck up and she hated those things in people. He spoke to the healer and said he wasn't there to harm her and nix lashed before she nodded to herself, the healer smiled at him before waving to another mat on the floor while she walked back to the fire to fetch another cup of tea.
"feel free to stay here a while until you have warmed up, of course that's if miss night wouldn't mind you hearing what has to be said" the healer said as she took another cup and filled it with tea and nix only stiffly nodded. "I just want to know, I've always been told they just died but I don't believe it and I want to know how it happened" she said in a smaller voice than her own was normally and she hung her head before taking a sip of tea to calm herself a little
