Out-of-Character
Characters
In-Character
- The admins WILL do their best to enforce the following rules.
- Be respectful to everyone on the forum.
- Do not fight with another member in a place visible to others (unless, of course, it's IC). In fact, try not to fight with anyone at all. Respectful, mature arguments and debates can be carried out via PM.
- If you feel you have been wronged by another member (they killed your character without permission, they were rude to you, etc.), let any of the admins know and they will do their best to help you out.
- Questions about the forum should be submitted directly to the admins via PM. Of course, you can ask other members, but the staff won't be held responsible for any false information you are given.
- The staff reserves the right to change the rules. Don't worry: we'll alert you of any major rule changes.
- Please tell us if you are leaving for a while. It's perfectly alright if you are going on vacation and won't be on; we understand. But please let us know so we don't blast you for inactivity.
Characters
- You may have as many original characters as you can handle.
- For every bender you make, you must make two non-benders before creating another bender. So, you're allowed to have only one character who is a bender, or one bender and one non-bender, but you can't have two benders and one non-bender.
- No Mary-Sues/Gary-Stus. These characters have no faults and are boring and predictable and highly disliked.
- If you want to include a picture of your character in his or her profile, please use anime or cartoon-style images; no real life pictures or cosplay. If you want to post an image of their outfits, you may use photographic/cosplay images.
- You may modify your character's profile after it is accepted, but please let us know if it's a major change. Needless to say, all changes must still be within the boundaries of the rules for characters, and if your character has been in IC posts previously, the change should not make it unlikely that the events of those threads would have happened. For instance, your character is born in the Earth Kingdom and uses earthbending to save someone's life. After that event you cannot change your character's bending element.
In-Character
- Keep all posts clean. ProBoards DOES monitor these sites, so be careful. We can't be responsible for suspensions or account-freezings executed by our host. Mostly, this means that you should not post about sex on the forum.
- Also try to avoid posting excessive violence, gore and curse words.
- Your spelling and grammar should be at their best when you post on this forum. If you're a bad speller, use the spell check.
- No god-modding or power-playing. Essentially this means that your character cannot be ridiculously powerful and that you cannot play the actions of another person's character.
- Your posts should have at least 8 sentences (about one paragraph) each. If this is difficult for you, ask to post with a more experienced writer who will help you improve your posts. In such threads, as long as you're trying to to grow as a writer, we can overlook the 8-sentence rule.
- If you wish to give an OOC message to other participants in an IC thread, notify them by putting the message in double parentheses, after "OOC:" or something like that.
- If there could be any confusion about which character you're posting with, label the post!. You can use different text colors and/or fonts for each, or include a picture or the name at the top of the post.
- You are allowed to have your character in multiple threads at the same time, but make sure you can handle them all and make sure they don't conflict.
